- Gladkov reported residential houses damaged by debris from downed UAVs over Belgorod
The residential infrastructure of Belgorod and Belgorod district was damaged as a result of the suppression of an attack by Ukrainian drones by air defense means, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on 8 January.
As the head of the region noted, according to preliminary information, there are no casualties.
"In Belgorod, as a result of falling debris from one of the downed drones in an apartment building, the roof was punctured and the ceiling in one apartment was damaged," Gladkov said in his Telegram channel.
In addition, the wreckage of drones fell in the village of Krutoy Log, Belgorod district. A car was damaged on the territory of a private household, and windows in a residential house were also broken out.
"Localized damage was also recorded on the power line - several houses temporarily lack power supply," the governor added.
At present, information on the consequences of the attack is being established, restoration work will be carried out during daylight hours.
Earlier in the day, Governor Gladkov reported that a passenger car was attacked by a Ukrainian drone in the farm Leonovka, Valuisky district, Belgorod region. As a result of the incident, a married couple was injured: both victims suffered closed head injuries and shrapnel wounds to their faces.
Also on January 8, the head of the Saratov region Roman Busargin reported that two employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were killed when fighting a fire at an industrial plant in Engels, which occurred after a drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to Ukrainian shelling.
