Investigative Committee completes investigation into the case of AFU fighters captured in Kursk region

The Investigative Committee has completed the investigation into the criminal case against three fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who illegally crossed the Russian border and shot at civilians. This was reported by the agency on January 8.

It is specified that the Ukrainian military entered the territory of Russia on August 12, 2024. They threatened residents of Sujan and Korenevsky districts of Kursk region, seized private houses and opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians.

A month later, the Russian military captured the militants, after which criminal cases were opened against them.

"Currently, the accused are in a place of detention of prisoners of war", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Russian Federation IC.

Earlier, on January 5, was completed the investigation of the criminal case against two AFU fighters Ignatenko and Maslyukov, taken prisoner in the Kursk region. They intimidated the local population, occupied private houses, forbade civilians to move and repeatedly opened fire on Russian army servicemen and civilians.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
