Fuel oil stains have been found near the coast of the resort city of Yevpatoria in the west of Crimea. This was reported on January 7 by the head of the city administration Alexander Yuriev.

"Personally toured the entire coastline, beaches. Emissions are of an isolated nature," he shared in Telegram-channel.

According to Yuryev, public utilities were ready for this situation and immediately began to eliminate the consequences. He noted that the city services also washed the birds, which were soiled with fuel oil, and subsequently sent them for rehabilitation in the lion park "Taigan".

He added that the situation changes constantly depending on the strength of the wind and waves.

Earlier, on January 5, oil slicks were discovered off the coast of Anapa and near Kapsel Bay in Crimea.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

January 2, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Transport said that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products had fallen into the Black Sea after the crash of the tankers.

Later, on January 3, in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay found an oil slick, it was reported about the risk of promotion of fuel oil after the crash, which is fixed to the north along the Crimean coast. As part of the work of the operational headquarters organized "breakdown of the territory" to clean up traces of oil products.

At the same time in Sevastopol declared an emergency situation regime (emergency situation) of regional character.
