Russian President Vladimir Putin has called 15-year-old Arina Porkhal from Horlivka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), whose balloon he took off the "Christmas tree of wishes". Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on January 7.

The presidential spokesman specified that Arina, a 9th grade student of Gorlovka's gymnasium No. 65, had dreamed of visiting St. Petersburg.

"Putin made a phone call to Arina Porkhal <...> In the telephone conversation, the president asked how her trip was going. The girl said that she was at the "Nutcracker" in the Mariinka, visited the ice show, was in Tsarskoye Selo, was on a tour in the Mariinsky Palace," - he specified.

Putin, addressing the girl, strongly recommended to visit the Hermitage while in St. Petersburg. The head of state also congratulated Arina on Christmas. The girl, in turn, told the President that she was impressed by the architecture of St. Petersburg.

Earlier, on December 26, Putin called seven-grader Taisiya Leonova from Moscow Region, whose dream he also fulfilled as part of the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" campaign - she, along with her mother, grandmother and brother, attended a rehearsal of the Igor Moiseyev Folk Dance Ensemble.

The head of state took part in the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" campaign on December 5. Then he took a card with a wish for Taisia and Arina off the New Year tree. In addition, the Russian president said that he would fulfill the wish of 10-year-old Margarita Rutsinskaya from Shebekino, Belgorod region, who dreams of being a pilot on a flight simulator. Margarita's New Year's wish was fulfilled - the schoolgirl with her parents came to Moscow, where she made a training flight on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 flight simulator, after which the president called the girl to find out about her impressions.

The "Christmas Tree of Wishes" charity event is a project of Russia's "Movement of Firsts" with the support of Rosmolodezh, which has been taking place since 2018 and lasts from mid-November to the end of February. Thanks to the campaign, children aged 3-17 who find themselves in a difficult life situation get an opportunity to fulfill a cherished wish or receive a gift for the New Year.
