In Petrozavodsk, a state of emergency has been declared after a gas explosion in a house

In Petrozavodsk, an emergency regime was introduced after a domestic gas explosion in a residential building. This was announced by the head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov on December 7.

"We introduce in Petrozavodsk the emergency mode of the municipal level. This will allow to eliminate the consequences of a gas explosion in an apartment building on Lunacharskogo Street faster," he wrote in his Telegram-channel.

According to Parfenchikov, four victims were hospitalized in the emergency and urgent care hospital with injuries of varying severity. There are no fatalities as a result of the incident, he specified.

In addition, the residents of the house where the explosion occurred were evacuated. Eight people were placed in two city hostels, where they will be provided with round-the-clock meals. The rest of the townspeople stayed with acquaintances and relatives.

Parfenchikov also added that at the moment the building is being examined to determine its further operation.

On January 6, it was reported that in the house number 19 on Lunacharskogo Street in Petrozavodsk there was a domestic gas explosion and collapsed interior wall. Four people were injured as a result of the incident. A criminal case under part 1 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements") was initiated as a result of the incident.
