Auto expert reminded about new amendments to traffic rules
New changes in the traffic rules, which will be adopted in 2025, extend the ban on holding a phone while driving to any other items, including cigarettes and food. This was reported by auto expert Dmitry Popov on January 6.
"The traffic rules include a ban on talking on a cell phone without using a headset or hands-free, so the new edition suggests that practically nothing will be allowed to be held in your hands except for navigation services," Popov said in an interview with RT.
He pointed out that the ban also applies to items such as cigarettes, vape devices or food such as shawarma - any things that distract from driving.
Popov added that most of the new amendments to traffic rules concern means of personal mobility.
Earlier, on January 5, Maria Yakovleva, director of the legal group "Yakovlev & Partners", reminded that on January 1 , new, increased, rates of fines for traffic violations began to take effect in Russia. The expert drew attention to the fact that the change in the size of fines mainly affected speeding - it is more than 70% of all traffic violations. In addition, fines related to traffic accidents, drunk driving and wrong parking have been increased. In general, the rates will increase by one and a half times.
The law on increasing fines for a number of traffic violations was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 26, 2024. So, for the most frequent violation - speeding at 20-40 km / h - will now be fined 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. In addition, there will be 30 days instead of 20 days to pay the fine with a discount.
