Rain, wet snow and avalanche danger are expected in the southern regions of the European part of Russia. Roman Vilfand, scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told TASS on January 6.
"In the Krasnodar region on Monday there will be heavy precipitation in the form of wet snow, in the mountainous area of Sochi very heavy snow is expected, accumulation of wet snow up to 33 mm in diameter, ice. In the North Caucasus is absolutely the same, in Adygea also very heavy accumulation of wet snow, and such weather will continue. Also predicted ice and frost deposits, wind up to 20 m / s, "- said the meteorologist.
Vilfand emphasized that in the area of Krasnaya Polyana avalanche danger begins at a height of 1 thousand km, in the mountains of the North Caucasus up to 2 thousand km. He also advised skiers to closely monitor the situation. According to the meteorologist, such a situation is associated with the warm climate in the region.
Earlier, January 4, on the portal "Meteovest" weather center "Fobos" warned Russians about a powerful Arctic invasion in January. It is noted that in the middle and southern latitudes of the European part of Russia, the temperature anomaly may exceed -2 degrees.
