Pamfilova noted that Martemyanov heroically fulfilled his professional and civic duty until the last minute, exposing the criminal actions of the Armed Forces in his reports Ukraine (APU).

She stressed that the murder of the Izvestia correspondent is another "inhuman atrocity and cruel crime" on the part of the Kiev regime, directed against media representatives and designed to intimidate Russia and shake Russia's confidence in victory.

"But we cannot be broken, we are united and strong in our faith in our Heroes! I share with my family, friends and colleagues the pain of loss! I am sure that this despicable murder will not go unpunished," added the chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin noted that Martemyanov's materials on Donbass "were bold and objective," and the journalist himself was always "at the forefront." At the same time, he not only made reports about the events in Donbass, but he always provided assistance to the residents of the DPR. Donetsk Mayor Alexey Kulemzin added that Martemyanov's life was dedicated to the search for truth.

Viktor Petrenko, chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists in the DPR, said that the deceased military officer href="https://iz.ru/1818306/2025-01-05/v-szhr-podderzhali-ideiu-pokhoronit-pogibshego-voenkora-izvestii-na-alee-geroev-v-dnr"> He should be buried on the Alley of Heroes in Donetsk.

It was excited criminal case under Articles 105, 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder and attempted murder of two or more persons", "Intentional damage to property").
