Oil slicks found in the Black Sea off the coast of Anapa and Crimea
An oil slick was detected in the Black Sea off the coast of Anapa during air monitoring, another one was noticed in the area of Kapsel Bay in Crimea. This was reported on January 5 in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"At 1.5 km from the shore of the Central beach of Anapa, an oily slick was detected towards the village of Vityazevo. Morspassluzhba specialists started to collect the oil-water mixture. <...> In Crimea in the area of Kapsel Bay, from Cape Frantsuzhenka to the steamer "Bagration", the fact of oil products detection was revealed. Minor pollution of sandy terrain 2 km long," - said in a message published in the Telegram-channel.
40 people and six units of equipment are working at the site of detection of oil products in Crimea. Since the beginning of work in the republic more than 70 thousand meters have been cleaned, 9158 bags of oil-containing waste have been removed.
More than 102 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil have been removed from the territory of Anapa and Temryuksky district.
The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
January 2, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products had fallen into the Black Sea after the crash of the tankers.
January 3 in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay found an oil slick, it was reported about the risk of fuel oil advance after the crash, which is fixed to the north along the Crimean coast. As part of the work of the operational headquarters organized "breakdown of the territory" to clean up traces of oil products.
At the same time in Sevastopol declared an emergency situation regime (emergency situation) of regional character.
