A man was injured in the village of Prelestnoye in Belgorod Region as a result of an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov on January 4.

"Over Prokhorovsky district our air defense system worked - several air targets were shot down. <...> A man was wounded in the village of Prelestnoye. The victim with a shrapnel wound of the leg was treated by the ambulance brigade on the spot," the governor said in a message in his Telegram-channel.

He also specified that in this village the windows of one of the households were defaced, as well as a car was damaged.

In addition, a power line was damaged in the village of Prokhorovka, in connection with which several streets are temporarily without lighting.

Gladkov added that a gas pipeline was damaged in one of the houses in the village of Mikhailovka.

Earlier, on January 3, Gladkov reported that the AFU attacked the Belgorod region with 60 munitions and 40 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past 24 hours.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces destroyed 22 Ukrainian army drones over six Russian regions overnight. 10 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, four each over the Orel and Rostov regions, two over the territory of the Belgorod region, and one drone each was destroyed over the Volgograd and Lipetsk regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
