In Kursk region, a 63-year-old resident of Rylsk district was killed in a drone attack by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on January 3 by Alexander Khinshtein, acting governor of Kursk region.

"Today, as a result of an enemy drone attack, a 63-year-old resident of the village of Obesta in the Rylsky district - a purely peaceful man who worked as a laborer at the Rylskaya agro-firm - was killed," Khinshtein wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, the explosion occurred near the house of the deceased when he was walking along the road.

Earlier, on January 2, Hinshtein reported that Ukrainian militants launched a missile strike on the village of Ivanovskoye in the Rylsky district of the Kursk region. As a result, one person was injured. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article on a terrorist attack.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
