The AFU attacked the Belgorod region with almost 60 munitions and 40 UAVs over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked Belgorod Region with about 60 munitions and 40 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past 24 hours. This was reported by the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov on January 3.

Five munitions and 13 drones were fired at settlements in Belgorod district, 10 UAVs were shot down. A man was wounded in the village of Yasniye Zori. Two private houses, three cars and an outbuilding were also damaged.

The AFU attacked the Borisov district with two drones, and a private house was damaged as a result. One UAV was shot down over Valuyskiy municipal district, without casualties, Gladkov noted.

In addition, 32 rounds of ammunition were fired over Graivoron municipal district during 11 shelling attacks, 10 UAVs were also attacked.

The AFU shelled Krasnoyaruzha district with nine munitions, there were three shellings in total. There were no consequences.

"Over the Starooskolsky urban district, an air defense system shot down an airplane-type drone. There are no casualties or damage," reads the message published in the governor's Telegram channel.

Shebekinsky municipal district was subjected to four artillery shellings, during which the AFU fired 13 shells and five drones, four of them were shot down. As a result, four private residences, a passenger car, an outbuilding and a power line were damaged.

Earlier in the day, the mayor of Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), Ivan Prikhodko, said that one civilian was injured in the shelling of the city by the AFU. Prikhodko added that a number of houses and communications were damaged after the attack in the settlement of Pobeda.

Also on January 3, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces destroyed 22 drones of the Ukrainian army over six Russian regions during the night. Ten drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, four each over the Orel and Rostov regions, two over the territory of the Belgorod region, and one drone each was destroyed over the Volgograd and Lipetsk regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
