A fuel oil spill occurred in Kamchatka during fuel transfer from a tanker

In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky there was a fuel oil spill during the pumping of fuel from a tanker to shore tanks. This was reported in the press service of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office on January 3.

"Today, during the pumping of fuel from the tanker "Sakhalin Island" to the coastal tanks of CHPP-1 of JSC "Kamchatskenergo" in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky there was a spill of fuel oil", - stated in the message published in the Telegram-channel.

It was specified that the spread of oil products on the water surface was not recorded.

Kamchatka transport prosecutor's office organized a check of compliance with the law in the operation of the vessel.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

January 1, the Ministry of Emergency Situations indicated that the department's employees and volunteers had collected more than 71.3 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil from the Kuban coast. Rescuers surveyed 56 square kilometers of coastline from the water.

On January 2, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products fell into the Black Sea after the wreck of tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239.
