Two civilians were injured in Belgorod Region as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This was reported by the Governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov on January 1.

"In Volokonovsky district on a section of the highway Shakhovka - Tishanka, an enemy drone hit a moving passenger car. Self-defense fighters handed over two victims to the ambulance crew," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Gladkov specified that one man received shrapnel wounds to the face, the second - shrapnel wounds to the abdomen and forearm. They were hospitalized in Valuysk central district hospital.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of 19 Ukrainian drones over five regions of Russia. In particular, 10 drones were eliminated over the territory of the Belgorod region, three over the Kursk region and two each over the Voronezh, Bryansk and Rostov regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
