Stop in the blink of an eye: Ukraine's energy and military-industrial complex has been dealt a blow
On 25 December, the Russian Armed Forces struck critical facilities of Ukraine's energy infrastructure that support the work of the military-industrial complex (MIC). Military airfields and a deployment point for foreign mercenaries and the SBU were also hit. Experts note that such strikes stop the work of the military-industrial complex enterprises and prevent the enemy from supplying equipment, ammunition and other important cargoes to the front.
Strike on enemy power facilities, factories and airfields
On the morning of December 25, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike on critical energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine that support the military-industrial complex. It was carried out with long-range precision weapons and strike drones, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The goal of the strike has been achieved. All the objects have been hit," the Russian military department emphasized.
The Russian Defense Ministry also said that aviation, strike UAVs, missile troops and artillery destroyed a deployment point of foreign mercenaries and SBU, struck the infrastructure of military airfields, as well as accumulations of enemy manpower and military equipment in 140 areas.
During the past night, 59 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by on-duty air defense means: 26 UAVs were shot down over the territory of Belgorod region, 23 - over Voronezh region, three UAVs - over the territories of Kursk, Bryansk and Tambov regions and one - over the waters of the Sea of Azov, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
All in all, the Russian air defense forces shot down 119 drones of different types over the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Energy company Ukrenergo said that due to damage to the infrastructure in the country, restrictions for consumers and industry have been imposed. Ukrainian energy holding DTEK reported damage to equipment at its thermal power plants after the explosions.
Ukrainian power engineers warned that the scope of restrictions may change overnight and urged the population not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.
The Russian Defense Ministry's official statement did not say it was a retaliatory strike, which means it was carried out as part of a systematic and systematic attack on Ukraine's military infrastructure, reserve lieutenant colonel Roman Shkurlatov, chairman of the board of the all-Russian organization Officers of Russia, told Izvestia.
- "We used strike UAVs, ballistic, air-to-surface class Kh-101 and sea-based Kalibr cruise missiles," he said. - As far as I know, we managed to penetrate the enemy's air defense in a number of regions. Most of all targets were hit in Dnipropetrovsk and the region, as well as in a number of other regions. In addition to power generation, thermal facilities were also hit, there were also recorded attacks on gas infrastructure. The scale of the damage can be judged by the fact that additional power cuts began throughout Ukraine.
The expert pointed out that many facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex were de-energized.
- This means that the process of production or repair of military products has stopped," he said. - At the same time, I would like to note that the entire infrastructure has not collapsed, although there is such a possibility, we know how to do it. For humane reasons, we spare the civilian population.
Military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia that such strikes not only stop the work of military-industrial complex enterprises, but also prevent them from supplying the front with equipment, ammunition and other goods necessary for the conduct of military operations.
- They also have a strong influence on the moral and psychological state of the Ukrainian population," the expert explained. - From there, it is transferred to the front. People in Ukraine are gradually beginning to realize that they have nothing to look forward to and it is time to surrender. There is a systematic pushing of this country to surrender.
Viktor Litovkin drew attention to the fact that more and more often our troops are covering the places of deployment of foreign mercenaries.
- Due to the shortage of AFU soldiers, mercenaries are more and more often sent to the country, sent to the front line, - he noted. - What we manage to find and destroy is very important. The mercenaries often operate sophisticated military equipment that comes from Western countries. They mean such systems as HIMARS MLRS, Patriot air defense systems and other equipment. All military-technical literature is written in English using military-technical vocabulary, and hardly anyone in Ukraine knows it.
Recent attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure
On December 13, the Russian Armed Forces struck Ukrainian infrastructure in response to an attack on the Taganrog airfield by U.S. ATACMS long-range missiles that had followed two days earlier. During this time, additional reconnaissance of targets and measures to deplete the enemy's air defense were carried out. The Ukrainian side said that one of the largest strikes on the country's energy sector was carried out on that day.
At that time, explosions were reported in Odessa, Vinnitsa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Cherkasy regions. In addition, they were heard in Kiev, Kremenchug, Kharkiv, as well as in Kiev, Lviv, Ternopil, Kharkiv and Khmelnitsky regions.
"Izvestia" wrote that after our attack with missiles and UAVs, electricity outages began in Western Ukraine and the enemy requested electricity imports from five neighboring countries.
On November 28, the Russian Armed Forces launched a comprehensive strike with 90 missiles and 100 drones. At that time, 12 military facilities on Ukrainian territory were hit.
In late November, in response to the strikes on Russian territory by US missiles, a new Russian medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" was tested. It hit the Southern Machine Building Plant (Yuzhmash) in Dnipropetrovsk. The latest munition was fired from the Kapustin Yar military training range in the Astrakhan region, and it reached a town in the center of Ukraine within minutes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 21, commenting on the strike, said that all modern air defenses available in the world and the missile defense systems being created in Europe are not capable of intercepting such missiles.
