Movie premieres in December offer viewers to meet many old characters and familiar stories in a new way. Handsome Jude Law will appear in the role of an ageing FBI agent in "Silent Brotherhood," Tom Hanks will once again enter the image of a cute guy Forrest Gump, but already with a traditional IQ in the movie "Then. Now. Later", and the houseboy Kuzya will meet with children in the feature film of the same name washed and eye angel. "Izvestia" tells about the most interesting premieres of December.

"Silent Brotherhood"

1983. A series of brutal robberies are sweeping across the United States. Criminals do not shy away from murder and violence, and the FBI begins to suspect that behind the crimes is an extremist group planning to organize riots across the country. Experienced agent Terry Husk (Jude Law) takes up the investigation, who has to find extremists from the secret organization "Silent Brotherhood" and destroy it.

Australian Justin Kurzel ("Assassin's Creed", "The True Story of the Kelly Gang"), a recognized master of the social detective, prefers scripts based on real stories. In this case - on the history of the organization The Order ("The Order"), which emerged in 1983 and aimed to "liberate America from the Zionists". The story began as an anecdote: young Nazis were caught trying to sell counterfeit banknotes, or lost their guns at the scene of the crime. But then the big game with inevitability ended with a lot of blood - however, let's not get ahead of ourselves, the story of the "Order" picture tells close to the text.

"Fatal Party"

The picture tells the story of the match for the title of world chess champion in 1951 - Mikhail Botvinnik against David Bronstein. Both - the champion and the challenger - represent the USSR, but this only intensifies the heat of the ideological struggle. The Kremlin currents are clashing in a storm, deciding who is worthy of the champion's crown. The chess players themselves are left to move the pieces, which in such a large-scale political game is, of course, a tenth matter.

The game between Botvinnik and Bronstein in the first chess championship, held under the patronage of FIDE, is indeed considered strange by many. In the penultimate game Bronstein conceded a piece and subsequently a game with an obvious advantage, winning the champion one point and almost securing the title. But almost, as is well known, does not count - and in sports, too. In the opinion of most experts, in that match the young 27-year-old Bronstein showed a brilliant original game, giving an equal fight to Botvinnik and his old school. Conspiracy theorists, however, are convinced that the result of the match was influenced by the NKVD and Stalin personally, who sympathized with Botvinnik. They do not leave the genius the right to make a mistake. Otherwise it would be too easy. But chess doesn't work that way.

"The Return of Odysseus"

After twenty years of wandering, King Odysseus, the victor of Troy, arrives on the shores of Ithaca. He is afraid to reveal himself to the people: after all, he took away to war with Troy the best men, and returned alone. But the state is in trouble: the people are starving, the country is going down without a firm hand of the ruler, and his wife Penelope has become a prisoner in her own house: she is forced to choose a new husband instead of Odysseus, who is considered dead, and the further she goes, the more difficult it is for her to refuse the unsolicited matchmaking. Odysseus will have to declare his return to save his beloved and his country.

Director of "The Return of Odysseus" Uberto Pasolini ("One on One", "Sweet Friend") scandalous Pier Paolo is not a relative, but only a namesake. But Uberto - Count and nephew of no less great Luchino Visconti, because of which for years postponed the envisioned movie career, afraid to stay forever in the shadow of the famous uncle. However, in the picture Count Uberto managed to combine the physiological frankness of another Pasolini with the refined romanticism Visconti. Landscapes are magnificent, battles are naturalistic, Reif Fiennes ("Schindler's List") with his trademark suffering look and Juliette Binoche ("Chocolate") with her carefully hidden, but unmistakable guessable inner flame showed the viewer almost perfect Odysseus and Penelope. And Odysseus fights so that for the sake of it and another passable action movie is not a pity to miss.

In the 1990s, Robeot Zemeckis was considered a genius without boundaries. Having consistently made mankind happy with such diverse films as "Romancing the Stone," "Back to the Future," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and, finally, "Forrest Gump," he gave the impression of a director who could handle all genres. This has ruined him: hitting the mysticism, Zemeckis lost the irony, so successfully shaded the over-the-top syrupy "Forrest Gump". He became, as they call, a sturdy professional, whose movies are not particularly scolded - but also did not cause delight.

It seems that Zemeckis, having realized his mistake, decided to return to the roots. In his new film starred Tom Hanks and Robin Wright - the sweet couple from "Forrest Gump". The movie itself is a broad stroke story of a place in American New England from ancient times to the distant future, but mostly, of course, about our time. Love and marriage, family and children, hugs and tears - everything that makes up human life has taken its place in this box of chocolates with different fillings. However, the fillings turned out to be somewhat sugary: the film is again discreetly criticized, this time - for an excess of melodrama.

"Domovenok Kuzya"

December 19

Domovenok Kuzya escapes from Baba Yaga's captivity by hiding in the luggage of a family visiting an old country house. Now he lives in the apartment of the girl Natasha, and they have to jointly save from the hag Kuzya's magic chest, which can fulfill wishes. However, Baba Yaga does not want to lose the prisoner and the chest, and is in the real world to pursue Kuzya and Natasha. They will have to save the chest and upset the insidious plans of the evil sorceress.

Cult Soviet cartoon on the eve of the new year has found an embodiment on the big screen. The storyline has been preserved almost completely - here you and the girl Natasha, and cousin's chest and even the main housekeeper Nafanya in the voice of Garik Kharlamov, who is now promoted to the head of the house pathos pathos LCD. Except that Kuzya became cleaner and got wide-open eyes, the size and shape suspiciously reminiscent of Cheburashka. Adults also have a chance to have fun solving simple movie cries: Baba Yaga borrowed the image of Miranda Priestly from "The Devil Wears Prada", Nafanya swears "a thousand devils", and bathing Kuzya quite pulls: "Oh-oh, warm went". Everyone will guess the last one: since the last "Irony of Fate" of the year has not yet passed.

It seems that it is time to establish a contest for Russian cities, each of which has a chance to become the scene of the next "Christmas trees", stirring up pride in the residents and replenish the municipal budget through large-scale filming. May the strongest man win! So far, the location of the next New Year's miracle movie is random, which, of course, is not quite fair, but as best as possible corresponds to the spirit of the endless franchise about intertwining of destinies and fulfillment of wishes of ordinary people on New Year's Eve.

This time Almetyevsk was lucky, where interethnic friendship will be triumphant on New Year's Eve. Guard cottage village Uncle Yura (Dmitry Nagiyev - "Fizruk") will save his pet - a minipig Kostya, charming Damir (Ruzil Minekaev - "The Word of a Patsan") will save from the sadness of the surrounding girls, and Cinderella - 19-year-old debutante Maria Raskina - will dream of meeting the man of his dreams, Turkish actor Burak Ozcivit. What happens next, fans of "Christmas Trees", of course, know. They also know exactly who Burak Ozcivit is. For the rest of us explain: in 2005, Ozcivit took second place in the contest "Best Model of the World". So there's a lot to see.

"The Last Ronin"

December 26

Post-nuclear world. Global apocalypse. All that remains of the former glory of mankind are weapons and ammunition, which have become the main world currency, and cloaks of well-made leather, which every first inhabitant of the lifeless desert managed to get somewhere. Well, and the last barbershop is probably hidden somewhere not far away, because the well-groomed hair and beard of the main character played by Yuri Kolokolnikov ("Game of Thrones") can only be envied. The hero calls himself Ronin, but with more certainty - a bastard. He wanders through the desert in search of his father's killers, for some reason making a map of the neighborhood. Soon he is joined by a teenage girl, Maria (Diana Yenakaeva - "Ice"), who is willing to pay him to accompany her to the place where she was born. What they are looking for there, it seems, the heroes themselves do not know, but it does not bother them. Because a true samurai has no goal - there is only the way.

"The Last Ronin" was the debut in the big movie clipmaker Max Shishkin. The example of the director of commercials Timur Bekmambetov, of course, inspires, but Shishkin has yet to find his way in the desert of creative torment. Its map he seems to have already made, and the reference points on it are visible to the naked eye: the desert from "Mad Max", the throne from "Game of Thrones", cloaks and masks from "Harry Potter", the heroine's rack from "Leon" and even the red font of the name of the picture - from "Ronin" with Robert De Niro. From the original Russian movie remained, perhaps, only the nuclear apocalypse. Well, if you think about it, also a theme.

"To be better. The story of Robbie Williams"

December 26

Быть лучше. История Робби Уильямса
Photo: Azure Centrum

Biopics about famous musicians are a trend, and Robbie Williams' film biography continues it quite organically. The picture tells about the childhood of the pop singer, his successes in the popular boy band Take That and fantastically successful solo career. Relationships with relatives and colleagues, fans and haters, the world and creativity - in short, everything as usual. Well, almost.

One small deviation from the traditional biopic is still present: Robbie Williams appears before the audience in the guise of a chimpanzee. And this is not a crazy outburst of director's imagination, but the result of a serious creative agreement between the real Robbie Williams and director Michael Gracey ("The Greatest Showman"). According to Williams, people tend to empathize with animals much more than their neighbors, and so he and Gracie in such an unusual way decided to push the sympathy of the audience to the main character. Come to think of it, this fact really says a lot about the artist.
