The presentation of a new smartphone from realme is scheduled for November 26. The device will be the world's first phone with a new generation Snapdragon processor - Snapdragon 8 Elite. At the same time, it is positioned as the most budget-friendly device with such a processor. However, testing of the novelty revealed one significant drawback: rapid heating of the smartphone during gaming sessions with maximum graphics settings. Experts recommend careful handling, do not play while charging the device and dose the time for entertainment with 15 minutes per session.

What are the risks associated with the GT7 Pro

Pre-orders for realme's new flagship GT7 Pro smartphone will open on the evening of November 26. It boasts powerful specs: a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, IP69 protection and a 6500 mAh battery. The gadget features the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Android smartphones, which will remain record-breakingly fast until the fall of 2025. And this is the first smartphone of the "new wave", which came to Russia in the global version, told "Izvestia" editor-in-chief of Ferra.ru Evgeny Kharitonov. Previously, for devices with good cameras never installed batteries with a capacity of 6500 mAh, they were the domain of highly specialized smartphones for amateurs, he noted.

- Snapdragon 8 Elite, of course, the main selling factor - in competitors it will appear only in January or February, closer to the electronics show MWC 2025 in Barcelona, and realme is used now. This makes the GT7 Pro 30% faster than the fastest smartphones of the 2024 model year in everyday short-term workloads. Such loads include launching and switching between applications, AI functions, gameplay," the expert specified.

In short-term stress tests and benchmarks, the smartphone is 30% faster than last year's competitors, but it has a fundamental disadvantage - a significant heating of the processor.

- It is worth bearing in mind that under prolonged load Snapdragon 8 Elite - in mathematical calculations or when compiling shaders in a game - overheats so much that it drops performance by about 40% and becomes slower than last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. All new products with this processor will be faster than the old, but only when the load is less than 30 minutes, or when this load is smoothly distributed between the graphics gas pedal and the processor, - said the expert.

He is convinced that if you do not put a case of felt on the smartphone, it will not glow. Despite the sufficient thermal insulation of the processor, the heat dissipation system itself is simpler than, for example, the gaming Red Magic 10 Pro, which uses liquid metal and a cooler, he notes.

As a result,a smartphone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor installed overheats a lot due to demanding mobile games like MadOut 2: Grand Auto Racing and can burn your hand if handled carelessly, said popular IT blogger Ben Geskin and shared a photo on the web.

- The hottest spot was where the chipset is located, but the top bezel also heated up badly. The very spot you hold on to with your hand. I could have put the smartphone away earlier, but I wanted to play for at least 10 minutes," he clarified.

What are the pros of the flagship from realme

GT7 Pro can be classified as an interesting model, despite the fact that it is not in the premium category. It realizes serious technical characteristics, fast processor and other nice features. In terms of equipment, the apparatus has all the advantages not to disappoint future buyers. But its main disadvantage may lie in a somewhat inflated price, said Denis Kuskov, CEO of TelecomDaily.

- If the smartphone starts to heat up quickly, it is a minus, of course. It is impossible to imagine that the GT7 Pro will explode, I honestly admit, because otherwise it would simply be taken out of production. I think if people don't feel comfortable holding a hot phone in their hands, they just won't use it," he said.

In terms of battery life, it's about the same 30% better than the iPhone 15, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Xiaomi 14T Pro, not to mention the Samsung Galaxy S24/S24+ or Xiaomi 14, which have even lower battery capacity. And 20% better than the iPhone 15 Pro Max (which keeps pace with Android smartphones with 5500 mAh) or the Honor Magic 6 Pro (which has a battery capacity of 5600 mAh). Also, the GT7 Pro uses a silicon-carbon battery rather than the standard lithium-ion battery. They, in addition to increased capacity in the same dimensions, are much more stable in the cold (evenly discharged, not prone to a sharp drop in current, which leads to a sudden drop in charge or spontaneous shutdown of the smartphone). And in general, they wear out slower than standard Li-Ion, added Evgeny Kharitonov.

- GT7 Pro does not have such usual attributes of flagships as eSIM and wireless charging, but practice shows that Russian buyers do not care much about these parameters. In general, the company has become hostage to its image of a discount brand, so fans of the brand will be shocked by the prices. Especially since realme GT6 for 60-70 thousand in federal retail offers almost the same quality main camera and autonomy of work without recharging only 17% lower, - said the expert.

The minus - the cost is quite high. But it can not be different when you get the latest processor, fast memory, a large amount of built-in SSD and expansion up to 24 GB of dynamic RAM, of course, all this must cost money. The model is interesting and will enjoy a certain demand, believes the leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin.

Among other pluses, the expert noted the processor Snapdragon 8 Elite and specified that it is "relatively hot". This is solved by the cooling system, which allows you to play high-performance games like PUBG at high settings (up to Ultra HD) graphics that support 60 frames per second and at low settings with 120 frames per second.
