Tax revenues to the Russian budget system amounted to almost RUB 46 trillion in the first 10 months of this year. The figure is about 20% higher than in the same period of 2023, Vladimir Putin said on November 21 at a meeting with the head of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) Daniil Egorov. The agency expects tax revenues to grow to 55.6 trillion by the end of 2024. Other topics of their conversation included the state of online commerce, the creation of BRICS tax administrations and the results of the simplified automated tax system.

What was discussed at the meeting

The total amount of tax revenues to the Russian budget in 2024 will amount to about Br55.6 trillion, which is 18.9% higher than the results of 2023, said Daniil Egorov. At the same time, only for 10 months of 2024 they amounted to 46 trillion - it is about 20% more than for the same period last year, said Vladimir Putin. According to the head of the Federal Tax Service, the federal budget is the best performer - it received Br20.2 trillion in taxes during the reporting period, which is 30% more than a year earlier. Including non-oil and gas revenues amounted to 11 trillion - an increase of 21% over last year.

In the Russian Federation, the share of online commerce in the revenue of retailers in 2024 increased to 42% from 6% in 2019, the head of the Federal Tax Service also said. "That is, the market is absolutely changing before our eyes. I think it is very important that on these so-called marketplaces more than 60% are small businesses. That is, they have, in fact, become such an infrastructure for access to demand for small businesses," said the head of the Federal Tax Service.

From 2025 all regions of the Russian Federation will be able to introduce a simplified automated tax system, previously it was available only in four experimental subjects. AUSN stipulates that the agencies collect all data from the banking system and cash registers, process it and provide taxpayers with a pre-filled declaration. "They can correct us or agree with our data. Thank God, everything is already perfected, there are practically no changes made by taxpayers, which shows that we have consistent data," emphasized Daniil Egorov.

The number of tax debtors has halved with the introduction of a single tax account: now more than 20 million Russians are no longer considered non-payers, said Daniil Egorov. The number of lawsuits filed by the Federal Tax Service for non-payment of taxes has also decreased, down by 3 million over the year. "Yes, and the judicial system is working without overload," the president emphasized.

Putin and Egorov also discussed the creation of a network of BRICS tax administrations: the parties will exchange questions and problems of taxpayers that arise between the countries. "That is, if a Russian company operates in China, in India, in South Africa or somewhere else, it may not ask that jurisdiction itself, but may ask through us. And, of course, our communications allow us to solve the problems of taxpayers at a completely different level," explained the head of the Federal Tax Service.
