The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Valeriy Zaluzhny, suggested that in addition to the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines, the Turkish Stream in the Black Sea should be blown up, but the operation failed. This was reported on November 20 by the German magazine Der Spiegel, citing sources.

"Allegedly, Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny liked the planned operation "Diameter" so much that he even wanted to expand it. Allegedly Zaluzhny offered to deal and the Black Sea," - stated in the material.

According to the publication, it was originally planned to conduct two simultaneous operations, but the attack on the "Turkish Stream" subsequently failed, and all attention was focused on the "North Stream".

It is noted that Zaluzhny was "impressed" by the one-and-a-half-page plan of sabotage on the "Nord Streams" presented to him and asked only whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term of office expired on May 20) knew about the plan, to which he received a negative answer.

Earlier, on September 25, Der Spiegel wrote that Zaluzhny approved the plan to sabotage the Nord Streams, and Zelensky allegedly did not know about what was going on. According to this information, the operation was financed from private funds and cost approximately $300 thousand. The sabotage group was led and trained by a former officer of the special operations forces of the AFU, Roman Chervinsky.

Such information was made public on the same day that the German government confirmed that several arrest warrants had been issued in the course of the investigation into the Nord Stream bombings. Prior to that, in the same month, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the country would make every effort to investigate and called for the investigation to be conducted in an unbiased manner. The Kremlin agreed with the call, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the importance of information sharing instead of leaks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled the Kiev regime's attempts to strike gas pipelines in the Black Sea as early as June 2024 and as late as September 2023. In particular, Ukraine's attempt to undermine "Turkish Stream" took place in October 2022.

In turn, leaks on the "Nord Streams" in the Baltic Sea were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the site of the accident. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
