Time of Heroes alumnus Yurgin appointed acting Minister of Youth of Yakutia

Igor Yurgin, a hero of Russia, a participant of the training program for fighters and veterans of the Special Military Operation (SMO) "Time of Heroes", has been appointed Acting Minister of Youth Affairs and Social Communications of Yakutia. This was announced by the head of the region Aysen Nikolaev on September 23.

"The Minister of Youth Affairs and Social Communications of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Peter Vitalievich Shamaev made an important decision - to stand up for the defense of the Motherland, having concluded a contract for military service," - wrote Nikolaev in Telegram-channel.

Igor Yurgin was appointed acting minister. He was selected for the "Time of Heroes" program, which trains personnel for the civil service from among the participants of the special military operation (SMO).

It was reported that he has already started his duties.

"Together with the team of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, I am actively promoting patriotic education among the youth. I am actively assisted in this by former members of the NWO. We take a course on the younger generation and hope to raise worthy people," - said Yurgin. His words are quoted by the press service of the program "Time of Heroes" in Telegram-channel.

Yurgin was born in the village of Nizhny Kuranakh in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in 1995, graduated from the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School. From 2023 until his assignment he commanded a detachment of the assault motorized rifle regiment in the zone of the North-Eastern Military District. He received the title of Hero of Russia in April this year after he and fellow soldiers defeated six elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Earlier in the day it was reported that another participant of the "Time of Heroes" program, Zaur Gurtsiev, became the first deputy head of Stavropol. Since 2019, Gurtsiev headed the center of combat control (and interaction of aviation with ground forces) of the army of the Air Force and air defense.

Before that, on September 20, a participant of the NWO and the program "Time of Heroes" Captain Alexander Surazov was elected to the post of chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of the Altai Republic. Andrei Turchak, the region's acting head, emphasized that Surazov's experience would help solve the tasks at hand.
