The indefatigable avenger: "The Count of Monte Cristo" has moved "Luntik."
The first full-length animated film about Luntik, which had been in the top for three weeks, lost the palm of leadership to "The Count of Monte Cristo". Third place - the satirical horror "Substance" with Demi Moore and Margaret Quolli. Comedy "Mom again 17" with Svetlana Khodchenkova just a little behind him with 26 million "Izvestia" - on the results of the rental of last weekend.
New Monte Cristo and a cure for old age
Avenger of the sad image of Monte Cristo played by Pierre Nine conquers the Russian screens with a profit of 56 million rubles. Alexander Dumas's great novel about love and revenge has been screened many times, including in the USSR. The three-part Soviet-French TV movie "The Prisoner of the Castle of If" was directed by "The Three Musketeers" director Georgy Yungwald-Khilkevich. Curiously, Alexander de La Patelier and Mathieu Delaporte, the authors of the new version of the story of Monte Cristo, also have to do with the "Three Musketeers": two parts of the adventures of faithful and fearless friends with Vincent Cassel and Roman Duris were staged on their script. "The Count of Monte Cristo" did not scare off the audience solid, almost three hours of timekeeping - apparently, the audience missed the large-scale costume movie, and even staged on the classics.
- The picture is impressive in its scope, not for nothing "The Count of Monte Cristo" officially became the most expensive French film this year - told "Izvestia" president of the network of cinemas "Caro" Olga Zinyakova. - The creators tried to make the movie closer and clearer to the young audience - the Count's mansion resembles Batman's lair, and Monte Cristo himself changes guises and masks, like Ethan Hunt from the movie "Mission Impossible". Such a mix of classic material with modern, understandable for young viewers elements provided the picture the first line of the box office.
"Luntik" went down to second place, having collected for three weeks an impressive 360 million rubles. And the third place went to the epathetic feminist horror "Substance", which won the prize for the script in Cannes. The main roles played by Demi Moore and Margaret Quolli, and their acting fearlessness is admirable. The story is not very young TV show host, who turns into a young beauty thanks to a magic drug, at first looks like a satirical comedy, but soon turns into a horror with repulsive bodily transformations and plenty of blood. By the way, the debut of director Coralie Farja "Survivor" about a victim who cruelly takes revenge on his abusers, too, was characterized by a special brutality. But the audience unfolding on the screen horrors did not scare off, but rather the opposite - for the first weekend the movie collected 27 million rubles. However, to the success of "Soul Collector" with Nicolas Cage and his 121 million in the first weekend "Substance" is far away.
- Indeed, at first glance, the picture is not designed for the mass audience and in some places shocking. However, in recent years, you can trace the trend of success of author's horror films. Plus excellent acting works of Demi Moore and Margaret Quolli attracted an additional audience, - explained Olga Zinyakova.
Comedy with Svetlana Khodchenkova and the adventures of Hellboy
By 700 thousand rubles from "Substance" lags behind another novelty, this time Russian. In the fantastic comedy "Mom again 17" tells about a pregnant girl who suddenly wakes up in her body, grown up for 19 years. First of all, this is a great opportunity for Svetlana Khodchenkova to show herself again in a funny role after several parts of "Love in the big city" and the romcom "Loves not loves". According to Olga Zinyakova, this genre and the theme of body exchange is consistently popular with moviegoers, and thanks to the presence in the cast Khodchenkova and Konstantin Kryukov comedy was able to attract a wider audience and consolidate in fourth place box office.
"Hellboy: The Curse of the Hunchback" directed by Brian Taylor ("Adrenaline", "Gamer") collected almost as much. This is the fourth movie franchise, this time without stars in the cast, where the charismatic hero fights the sect of witches and its leader hunchback. The screenwriter was the author of the original comic book, Mike Mignola, who was dissatisfied with all previous screen adaptations and decided to show everyone the class himself. Critics scold "Hellboy: The Curse of the Hunchback" primarily for the unimpressive script and cheap special effects, but moviegoers are attracted by the title and the familiar red face with cut horns.
Sixth place - the short meter "Unremarkable Story", which is usually attached to unofficial Hollywood releases in the format of pre-screening service. And the comedy action film "The Killer Game" with David Batista and Sofia Butella, which had a good start last week, moved from second place to seventh place. Rounding out the top ten are "Across Moscow," another short from the "pre-screening service," and the Korean horror "Astral. Whispers of the Dead 2." About the latter it is worth adding that it has nothing to do with the Indonesian film, which received in the Russian box office the title "Astral. Whisper of the Dead." Apparently, the name "Astral" can still lure viewers to the movies.
