The State Duma responded to Poland's accusations of a psychological operation
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs Alexei Chepa responded on Monday, September 23, to reports by the Polish Armed Forces (AF) that Moscow was conducting an "information and psychological operation" of intimidation against Poles amid flooding in the country.
The day before, Poland unsubstantiatedly accused Russia of conducting an "information and psychological operation" against citizens in connection with flooding in the country. The Polish Armed Forces Cyber Defense Troops posted a statement on the social network X (formerly Twitter), 360.ru reported.
The Polish Armed Forces said that Russia allegedly uses the technique of selective selection of information in cyberspace to induce emotions of fear and helplessness in civilians. In addition, it is claimed that one of the elements of the "operation" is an attempt to undermine confidence in the security forces of the state, according to the website kp.ru.
At the same time, specific facts and evidence of Russian activity could not cite in the agency, writes RIAMO.
"This is wildness. It is good that they did not accuse Russia in general in the floods, that it is Russia's fault that this flood happened - thank them at least for that. Everything that contradicts the agenda that officially exists in European countries, including Poland, causes a certain irritation on the part of the authorities of these countries," Chepa said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
Earlier, September 21, the head of the province Maciej Avizhen said at a meeting of the crisis headquarters that the damage from flooding in southern Poland was estimated at almost $1 billion. According to him, the flooding affected 57 thousand people. More than 6.5 thousand people had to be evacuated.
The flooding in Poland became known on September 15. Then because of heavy rains, which led to the incident, the country introduced disaster mode, said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. After that, on September 16, the military evacuated 1,100 people from the flood areas in the south of Poland. It is noted that the evacuation was carried out with the help of helicopters, boats and rescue vehicles.
