The economist warned about errors leading to overpayment of taxes
Sergei Tolkachev, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that many people are unaware of existing tax deductions that could reduce their tax base.
In conversation with Lenta.Ru On October 20, Tolkachev noted that Russians often overpay taxes due to unused deductions, including social, property and investment ones. Additional expenses may arise due to errors in declarations, incorrect indication of income and expenses, as well as late payment of taxes. At the same time, underestimating the amount of the payment can result in fines and penalties.
According to the expert, it is important for entrepreneurs to separate personal income and expenses from sole proprietorship operations, otherwise errors in reporting may occur. An incorrect interpretation of tax legislation also leads to overpayments, especially when selling property or receiving income from abroad.
To avoid unnecessary expenses, Tolkachev advised to monitor changes in legislation, check available deductions and comply with payment deadlines. He also recommended using the taxpayer's personal account on the FTS website, where you can track charges and notifications. In difficult situations, the specialist called for professional advice.
On the eve of October 19, expert Irina Maslova reminded that Russians need to pay property taxes for 2025 by December 1. The deadline for fulfilling tax obligations for individuals is December 1, the website clarifies kp.ru . She urged not to postpone the payment of taxes until the last day, RT clarifies.
At the same time, the Ministry of Finance proposed to impose interest on personal income tax deposits up to 22%. According to the initiative, the tax will depend not only on the income on the deposit, but also on salaries and other earnings, writes NSN.
Expert Sergey Yelin, in an interview with RIAMO on October 16, warned that paying for services, goods, or rent with a personal card could attract the attention of the tax service. Penalties and fines are threatened for concealing such income, notes 360.ru .
In August, veterans of the Special Military Operation (SVO) and their family members were reminded of the tax benefits available. In Moscow, in addition to the federal tax deduction, they have the opportunity to reduce the tax base on land tax by 1 million rubles, the Moscow City News agency notes.
