Parking at tourist spots in Sochi will be paid for

A network of parking spaces will be expanded in Sochi by the end of 2026. The authorities are considering the creation of additional paid parking in areas with the highest demand. We are talking about tourist sites, shopping malls and administrative buildings.

The Vedomosti Yug portal, with reference to the press service of the mayor's office of the resort city, writes that they want to implement the plans by the end of this year. The city administration explained that the growth in the number of cars is outpacing the development of road infrastructure. This keeps parking spaces scarce. High tourist traffic creates additional pressure: in high season, the influx of cars makes it difficult for public transport to move and increases the number of parking and stopping violations.

Thus, the expansion of the paid parking space can become a comprehensive mechanism for regulating traffic flows. The main objectives of the project are to streamline parking, reduce chaotic parking, ensure the passage of public transport and utility equipment, as well as increase the turnover of parking spaces.

KrasnodarMedia news agency writes that as of October this year, 3.8 thousand parking spaces have been created in Sochi. From the beginning of the year to July, city budget revenues from paid parking exceeded 62 million rubles. At the same time, no new toll zones were organized in the city during this period.

However, as the mayor's office emphasized, the shortage of places remains. The authorities are exploring the territories for the organization of intercept parking lots and specialized parking lots for tourists. But so far, no vacant land plots have been found that would be in municipal or state ownership and fully comply with all urban planning regulations.

Earlier, Ilya Vasilchuk, a trial lawyer and an expert on the security of electronic transactions and real estate transactions, said that charging apartment owners for the right to park on the territory of their homes without providing additional services is illegal. According to the expert, the owners have an equal right to use the common property of an apartment building. Accordingly, paying only for parking on a common plot of land may infringe on their rights and be challenged.
