Kiev's attacks on Russian oil refineries indicate that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is ignoring Washington's calls. This was announced on October 16 by Karin Kneissl, head of the St. Petersburg State University's G.O.R.K.I. Center and former Austrian Foreign Minister.

"This means that his (Zelensky's. — Ed.) is not too concerned about what the US administration is asking him to do. This has been going on for quite some time. I remember the President [of the United States Donald] Trump asked him many months ago, if not two years ago, not to attack the energy infrastructure," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Kneissl stressed that attacks on Russian energy facilities are being carried out despite warnings about possible consequences for the global energy market.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 14 that the Russian and American sides were continuing to work on an energy truce in Ukraine. On the same day, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak drew attention to the fact that Kiev had no interest in what was happening and that it was not seeking a settlement.
