- The son of the missing Usoltseva pointed out the lack of plans to recognize his family as dead
Irina Usoltseva's son, Daniil Batalov, said on October 15 that he had no plans to go to court to declare his family dead. We are talking about the Usoltsev family: Irina, her husband Sergei and their five-year-old daughter, who disappeared in the Krasnoyarsk taiga in the fall of 2025.
According to the norms of Russian legislation, relatives have the right to file a court application for declaring a person dead six months after his disappearance, if the situation directly threatened the life of the missing person. After such recognition, the opportunity opens to enter into the inheritance. However, Batalov does not intend to do this.
"I'm not even thinking about inheritance yet. I don't want to recognize them as dead," he replied to a question from RIA Novosti.
The loss of the Usoltsevs in the Minsk Loop area became known in the fall of 2025 — they went hiking with a five-year-old child to Mount Pinocchio. Sergey Usoltsev was the owner of a paint manufacturing company. He had to provide a report on the expenditure of government grants. At the same time, Batalov denied reports about the family's departure to California.
Grigory Sergeev, the head of the LizaAlert search and rescue team, announced on September 11 that the search for the Usoltsev family would continue, but without involving a large number of volunteers.
Researcher and family friend Valentin Degterev reported on October 13 that the remains of the Usoltsev family, who disappeared a year ago in the taiga of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, may be located in the Kuturchinsky Belogorye. The researcher added that he plans to organize searches in the area where he had previously found alleged traces of blood and a silhouette of a human body in one of the photos.
