Yura Borisov called the possible Oscar nomination a miracle
Russian actor Yura Borisov, in a conversation with the American newspaper Variety on October 11, called his possible Oscar nomination a miracle. He played the role of Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI, in Luca Guadagnino's film Artificial Intelligence.
"It's a miracle! It was unpredictable, I do not know what to say. I'm very curious how people will react [to the film]. Let's see what happens," Borisov said.
Critics suggest that the actor may become a nominee in the Best Actor category. At the same time, Borisov noted that awards and prizes are not what he makes films for.
Variety magazine reported on October 6 that Borisov could be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor category for the film Artificial Intelligence. Guadagnino's painting is dedicated to the events of November 2023 at OpenAI, when the board of directors dismissed CEO Sam Altman, but a few days later he returned to his post. The film will be released in the United States on December 25.
