Khabarovsk residents warned of snow and gale force winds
Adverse weather events are expected in the Khabarovsk Territory. Heavy precipitation in the form of rain and sleet is forecast on October 14 and 15, wind strengthening along river valleys up to 24 m/s, and on the coast — up to 29 m/s. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
The situation is controlled by the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. They warned that due to bad weather, emergencies may occur at fuel and energy and housing and communal services facilities.
Recommendations were sent to the heads of municipalities to take measures to prevent emergencies and minimize possible consequences. The forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been transferred to full readiness to respond to incidents.
IA AmurMedia writes that the beginning of October in the region turned out to be snowy in winter. In Vaninsky, Verkhnebureinsky and Sovetsko-Gavansky districts, strong winds, snow and sticking on trees led to emergency power outages, roofs were damaged, trees and power lines were felled.
Earlier, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said that the first snow in Moscow this year could fall much later than the long-term average. According to the forecaster, in the 21st century, the average date of the first snowfall in the capital falls on October 18. At the same time, temporary snow cover usually forms by November 3. Leus noted that this year there is a high probability of a later onset of both weather events.
In addition, he added that Siberia and the Far East have become the snowiest regions of Russia. A stable snow cover has already formed there, which will remain until spring.
