Yandex assured of the safety of the money of the Yandex Pay customers
The funds of the Yandex Pay service users are completely safe, despite the technical glitch. This was announced on October 11 by Dmitry Pirogov, head of fintech at Yandex.
Due to the incident, some customers had difficulties checking their balance, paying for purchases, and making transfers.
"First, about the most important thing: all your money is safe. The money itself is not stored in the data center. There are servers that provide services. Records of each account are stored in several copies at different sites. We have checked their integrity: not a single record has been lost," Pirogov emphasized in the Telegram channel.
The company noted that specialists are continuing the restoration work and checking each stage of the restart of the systems. At the moment, the exact timing of the full restoration of access to the service is not being announced, as the priority is the reliability of financial transactions.
Yandex also apologized to users for the inconvenience and promised to inform them about the progress of the work as news appeared.
On October 11, Yandex reported that the infrastructure of the company's data center was damaged as a result of the UAV attack in Vladimir. It was clarified that no one was injured in the incident. The company warned that the current configuration of resources remains unstable, and the platform is operating in emergency mode.
Residents of Moscow told Izvestia on the same day that Yandex was experiencing disruptions, for example, it was almost impossible to call a taxi the first time. One of the taxi drivers reported that the service was not working well. He drove up with the order, but the customer said he was staying at home and hadn't ordered a taxi at all. According to the driver, the customer was minding his own business and was unaware of the order.
On October 11, Henrikh Devyatkin, Deputy Director of the Institute of High-Tech Law at the MIE, noted that damage to three key Yandex data centers had led to service disruptions in Serbia, Kazakhstan and several other countries. The consequences for the infrastructure can be serious, and some of the data may be permanently lost. According to him, any IT companies have serious capacities, and they are all physically located somewhere.
