Pike's lawyers announced her discharge from the hospital and return to prison.
Krista Pike, who survived a failed execution attempt in Tennessee, was discharged from a local hospital and returned to prison. This was announced by her lawyers on October 10.
She is currently in the Deborah Johnson Rehabilitation Center, where she has been held for more than 30 years. The defenders stressed that Pike will continue to receive medical care at the correctional facility, and her condition will be under the supervision of specialists.
"She is grateful to the emergency services and the medical team for their care in these exceptional circumstances," the local WVLT television channel quoted the statement.
Pike's execution was scheduled for September 29, which was the first such sentence handed down to a woman since 1819. The execution was canceled the next day, as the procedure was unsuccessful and the criminal survived. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee ordered a comprehensive independent review to determine the causes of the incident, and his colleagues announced their intention to review the procedure for the execution of death sentences. The Associated Press reported on October 9 that the woman started eating and moving around again with the help of strangers a week after she was injected with two doses of drugs.
