The State Duma proposed to cancel the All-Russian verification work
On October 9, State Duma Deputy Sergei Mironov proposed to abandon the All-Russian verification work. In his opinion, the VPR repeats the functions of other school control and creates an additional burden on students and teachers.
"The All—Russian verification work should be canceled. <...> They duplicate the quarterly, semi-annual and annual control work," Mironov told TASS.
According to the deputy, the implementation of the VPR greatly increases the burden on schoolchildren and can negatively affect the quality of education. Additional responsibilities related to the preparation and execution of work also fall on teachers.
Mironov noted that the tests can become an additional burden for students at the end of the school year, when they have to perform scheduled final work. He also cited the opinion of teachers who call VLOOKUP an unnecessary "micro OGE and USE" that creates problems for participants in the educational process.
On September 24, Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said that teachers should set homework within the prescribed limits and relate it to the workload in other subjects. According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Education, for the second and third grades, the standards for homework are up to 1.5 hours, for the fourth and fifth grades — up to two hours, for the sixth, seventh and eighth grades — up to 2.5 hours, and for grades 9-11 — up to 3.5 hours.
