The expert named the most problematic areas of rehabilitation for children

There are about 800,000 children with disabilities in Russia, but there are significantly more who need rehabilitation and correctional support — we can talk about more than 1 million minors. Pavel Berezhansky, an expert from the Popular Front, told Izvestia about this, adding that a system of assistance has not yet been created in many areas.

Low-mobility citizens living in an old housing estate are often unable to leave their home due to lack of infrastructure.

"Certain areas of psychological, pedagogical and comprehensive rehabilitation of children with diseases of the nervous system and mental disorders remain particularly problematic. For example, there is still a certain system of assistance for children with autism, while for some other diseases the corresponding areas are practically not developed," the source told Izvestia.

He also drew attention to the fact that parents often go to dubious specialists in the hope of helping their child in conditions of a shortage of available support. The expert cited the territorial remoteness of rehabilitation centers, the lack of specialists, rare and short courses, and the lack of systematic support as the main reasons for this.
