The path of confrontation between the European Union (EU) and Russia will only worsen the problems of the member states of the association. About this on October 8th Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at the briefing.

"But I want to say once again that the path of confrontation with Russia will only worsen the situation of the European Union and the EU as a whole," she stressed.

The diplomat noted that Brussels, first under pressure from Washington, and now out of inertia, chose a course for a tough confrontation with Moscow. Under the anti-Russian rhetoric, the European authorities are setting up large-scale military preparations, increasing support for the Kiev regime and imposing restrictions against citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation. According to her, such an approach will not allow the EU to resolve pressing issues, but will only exacerbate both historical and artificially created internal challenges.

According to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, European citizens and business circles are already fully experiencing the consequences of such a policy, which is promoted by the new leaders of European diplomacy. The key negative factors for the stability of the region were the sky-high level of public debt of the participating countries, the crisis of energy security and poverty, as well as a drop in output in the basic sectors of European industry.

The head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service, Martin Jaeger, said on October 5 that Germany risks being drawn into a possible armed confrontation with Russia. At the same time, Yeager admitted that German intelligence has no signs of Russia preparing an attack on Germany.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 25 that Moscow was not preparing for any military action with Europe, as there were no plans or grounds for this. The Head of State called the statements about a possible Russian attack on European countries a deliberate escalation of the situation and provocation.
