Thailand is considering the introduction of an exit fee of 1,000 baht (about $30). This was reported on October 7 by the newspaper The Nation.

The bill, which is being considered by the Ministry of Finance of Thailand, provides for the establishment of a base rate for those departing by air. According to the publication, the collection limit will be 5,000 baht (about $150), which will allow increasing the initial amount in the future without agreeing on a new law.

"The IRS has published the principles of the proposed Exit Tax Law, which will replace the approach adopted under Thailand's 1983 legislation. The public discussion will last from September 30 to October 29, 2026," the publication says.

At the first stage, those traveling by land or sea will be exempt from paying the fee. According to the bill, tourists will have to pay a fee before leaving Thailand, the fee will be charged to airline passengers at the same time as the ticket is paid.

According to the newspaper, some categories of air passengers will be completely exempt from tax. The preferential categories will include members of the royal family and their entourage, the Supreme Patriarch and his entourage, heads of foreign states, children aged two and younger, as well as passengers traveling on government planes. In addition, air passengers on international transit flights, as well as some of those passengers who need to stay at the airport during the transfer, will not have to pay the fee.

Gennady Onishchenko, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said on October 3 that returning to Russia from Thailand during severe frosts could become an additional burden for the body due to a sharp change in climatic conditions. According to him, the effects of the temperature drop may be especially noticeable for the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems.
