- Putin held a meeting on the development of electricity storage. The main thing
On October 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening of the first complex in the cluster for the production of electric batteries. The main topics for discussion were energy storage systems, localization of production and joint work with foreign partners of the Russian Federation. The main statements of the head of state are in the material of Izvestia.
On the development of the domestic industry of energy storage systems
Putin noted during the meeting that energy storage systems are in increasing demand and are used to produce various civilian and special-purpose products, including autonomous systems, robotics, environmentally friendly and electric modes of transport.
"For the development of these promising areas, we need our own modern sources of energy storage. I would also like to emphasize another thing: energy is a basic resource of the economy, therefore it is necessary to introduce battery systems more widely into the electric grid complex, especially in territories where there is a shortage of energy resources," the president said.
At the same time, he noted that the drives can provide the growing capacities of data centers. Therefore, it is now important to form a regulatory framework containing uniform requirements for the quality, safety and lifecycle of energy storage systems, including their reuse. According to the head of state, there will also be an increase in domestic production of such products, improvement of battery technologies and development of new areas of their application.
About Rosatom's production facilities
The Head of State also recalled that last year a large-scale battery production facility was opened by Rosatom in the Kaliningrad region. A factory in Moscow is being put into commercial operation today.
"In general, a high-tech industrial cluster for the manufacture of batteries of various types is being formed in the capital. As a matter of principle, its residents will conduct research and development work in this area," Putin said.
At the same time, he said that by 2030, after new enterprises reach their planned capacities, Russia will independently supply most of the domestic demand for batteries.
About localization of production
Putin focused on localization of production: "We are talking about an end-to-end chain with the primary use of Russian raw materials. To do this, it is necessary to actively develop deposits of mineral resources that are used in the manufacture of energy storage devices, and introduce the latest technologies, materials, electronics, and software."
At the same time, he clarified that in order to accelerate the development of its own technologies, it is necessary to rely on the best practices available from foreign partners of the Russian Federation, therefore it is necessary to build mutually beneficial cooperation with them.
Separately, the President noted the importance of looking ahead and focusing on creating advanced, state-of-the-art solutions, including the so-called post-lithium technologies, which make it possible to produce more energy-intensive and environmentally friendly energy storage systems.
"I would like to emphasize once again that technological leadership is impossible without the successful development of energy and the creation of modern energy—intensive storage devices," he said, drawing the attention of state corporations, large and small technology companies, and start-ups to the need for continuous improvement of technologies in this area, and the widespread introduction of new, promising developments.
