Peskov compared Putin's Munich speech to a bell
The Munich speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2007 was not a threat, but a bell. This was announced on October 4 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
He compared the West's incorrect perception of the current statements of the Russian authorities regarding the security of Kaliningrad with how Putin's speech was regarded at the time.
"It reminds me very much, probably, of the situation with Putin's Munich speech. She was also perceived as a threat. And it wasn't a threat, it was a bell," Peskov said in an interview with the Vesti news agency.
The Kremlin representative has already recalled the famous speech of the Russian leader in the context of warnings about the Kaliningrad region. On October 1, he recalled that the Munich speech was also mistakenly perceived as confrontational. However, according to Peskov, Putin was actually talking about Russia's openness to dialogue, while noting the growing contradictions he saw.
