Lukashenko called himself a "Trumpist"
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called himself a fan of the policies of American leader Donald Trump, despite the fact that he often openly criticizes his colleague from the United States. He stated this on September 2 during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk.
"As I often say, I am a Trumpist. I supported Trump, and I'm sure many of you supported him in the election. Yes, I openly criticize, while negotiating with the Americans, I tell them directly about my position," BelTA quoted him as saying.
Addressing the heads of government delegations, the head of Belarus stressed that he was grateful to Trump for "exposing the policy of the West, primarily the United States." However, according to Lukashenko, the American leader is often characterized by "fuss" in his actions: "one thing in the morning, another in the evening."
On September 29, Lukashenko invited the United States to join the construction of a nitrogen plant with the participation of the Russian company Gazprom, and also allowed the possibility of using American technologies in construction. On the same day, Trump noted that the United States was working on a major deal to purchase potash from Belarus.
