The State Duma proposed extending the work of duty groups in kindergartens until 20:00

Groups on duty in kindergartens must be extended until 20:00 if requested by at least ten families. This was announced on September 27 by State Duma deputy Nikolai Novichok.

"Extending the work of one duty group until 20:00 would be useful for everyone. And to avoid empty evening groups, I suggest opening them only after the application of ten parents of children attending kindergarten," he said in an interview with "RIA Novosti".

Novichok explained that such a mechanism would allow parents to pick up their children after a late workday without having to leave work earlier. At the same time, caregivers could receive additional payments, including with the use of an increasing coefficient. The deputy proposed to launch the system from January 2027.

Maria Voropayeva, head of the permanent deputy association of the Liberal Democratic Party in the Moscow City Duma, sent an appeal to Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, with a proposal to establish unified federal standards for the operation of municipal kindergartens. The document noted that preschool institutions may operate on different schedules. In some regions, they close as early as 17:00-18:00, which creates difficulties for parents whose working day ends later.
