WSJ learned about a technical glitch in the 737 MAX Boeing aircraft system

The Boeing Aircraft Corporation has identified a software error in the 737 MAX aircraft system that can cause the automatic navigation function to fail. The malfunction poses additional risks to flight safety during the approach. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) writes about this.

"The failure, which was acknowledged by Boeing, had not previously been publicly reported. The problem arose after updating the software in the cockpit and may manifest itself if the flight crew changes the planned flight route after leaving for the second round," the publication says.

As noted, in such circumstances, pilots may need to switch to fully manual control of the aircraft, as some of the autopilot functions become unavailable. Representatives of the aviation industry fear that this will create an excessive burden on the crew, who are forced to perform complex maneuvers at low altitude, often in adverse weather conditions.
