About 74 thousand facilities in Moscow have been prepared for the heating season

Specialists of the municipal economy complex have prepared about 74 thousand facilities for the heating season. These include 34.6 thousand residential buildings, 8.4 thousand social facilities and about 30.8 thousand economic facilities. This was announced on Thursday, September 24, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

According to him, all the planned events were carried out in accordance with the established schedule. Active preparations for the new heating season began at the end of April, immediately after the end of the 2025-2026 season. For almost four months, specialists from PJSC "MOEK" conducted hydraulic and temperature tests on 19.5 thousand km of heating networks. This allowed us to identify potentially unreliable areas and carry out the necessary repairs in advance, writes "Moscow 24".

13 thermal power plants, 38 district and 42 block heating stations, as well as 97 small boiler houses have also been prepared for the heating season. All systems and equipment have been thoroughly tested. Routine maintenance was carried out on more than 130 thousand km of electric networks, about 3.5 thousand km of gas, over 13.2 thousand km of water supply and 9.8 thousand km of sewer networks.

In addition, the necessary number of emergency teams have been formed in the capital, which have provided equipment and necessary materials.

Also on September 24, Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, proposed to adjust the rules for the start of the heating season. According to him, heat should be supplied to residential buildings and social institutions at an average daily temperature of +10...+11 degrees.

At the same time, Konstantin Krokhin, chairman of the Union of Housing Organizations in Moscow, told the "Moscow" city News agency that such a decision was economically impractical and could lead to an increase in residents' heating costs. In addition, when heat is applied during relatively warm weather, overflow may occur in homes. As a result, residents will have to open windows, and heat consumption will increase.
