Bulaev called the Russophobic sentiments of the Balts genetically determined
The Russophobic mood in some Balts is already in the genes. This was announced on September 20 by Nikolay Bulaev, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation.
He noted that attempts to intimidate Russians who want to vote in the Baltic States occur annually.
""[The provocateurs] think that this is exactly what they should spend their lives on,"" Bulaev told Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin.
Bulaev added that the third day of voting is going on quietly. According to him, the turnout was quite high on the second day. However, it is too early to summarize the results for individual regions.
"The flight is proceeding normally. <...> In an hour, the counting of votes and the summing up of the voting results will begin. Therefore, I hope that all the commissions, tired of course, will conduct the main stage at the highest professional level," he said.
The deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission also added that the election results will be announced after the closure of the last polling station in the Kaliningrad region.
On September 19, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, announced the intimidation of Russians in Latvia and Estonia because of their intention to participate in the State Duma elections. Zakharova noted that the police of Latvia and Estonia check the documents of people who are trying to get into the Russian diplomatic missions and record the data of visitors.
