The dog handler pointed out the need for a regime for the dog
Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, explained why the dog needs a regime. In an interview with "Radio 1" on Friday, September 18, he stressed that the daily routine for a dog is not humanization, but a way to create a safe and predictable environment. Unlike humans, animals are more dependent on a stable routine, although a certain regime is useful to humans.
According to the expert, the dog's body gets used to a certain feeding time and prepares in advance for digesting food. Irregular nutrition forces the pet to constantly wait for food and over time can lead to gastritis and other gastrointestinal disorders.
A stable schedule also helps the dog feel safe and trust the owner. If the walking time is constantly changing, the animal may experience stress and try to control the situation on its own: bring a leash, scratch at the door and remind of its needs. It is especially important to observe the walking regime. If the dog regularly has to endure for a long time, this can weaken the tone of the sphincters and further lead to incontinence.
At the same time, the specialist stressed that it is not necessary to follow the schedule to the minute: an hour deviation is not as critical as the sequence of actions. Even if the host overslept, you should not swap breakfast and a walk. If your pet is ill or the weather is dangerous, you can temporarily adjust the schedule and then return to your usual routine.
For dogs with chronic diseases, a schedule should be made together with a veterinarian. Even seriously ill animals need walks in most cases, but their duration and workload should be reduced by spending more time on rest.
Before that, in September, Golubev explained the dog's memorization of human scent. The expert noted that the smell of the owner remains in the dog's memory for a long time and can have a calming effect on it.
In August, Golubev reminded that proper nutrition is one of the foundations of a healthy dog's life. It must be built individually, taking into account the breed, age and type of activity of the pet, notes 360.ru .
Also in August, dog handler Konstantin Karapetyants told how to help a dog get used to the apartment, the noise of the streets and the urban regime after several months of living in nature. In particular, before leaving, it is worthwhile to get back into the habit of a leash and other ammunition in advance, the website writes. kp.ru .
In June, dog handler Alena Pivovar spoke about the peculiarities of raising a dog from a shelter. According to her, the average adaptation lasts from three days to three months. The "rule" is called the "rule of three": three days to shock, three weeks to get used to the regime, and three months to fully accept you as one of our own, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
