Russians have become more likely to plan long-term foreign trips for the winter period. The share of wintering grounds in the total number of foreign aircraft bookings for the period from November 2026 to March 2027 increased to 44.1%, which is 8.9 percentage points more than last season. This is evidenced by a study of the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which "Izvestia" reviewed on September 21.

Thailand has become the most popular destination for long-term holidays, accounting for 40.3% of all winter bookings. Compared to last season, the country's share increased by 2.8 percentage points, and the average cost of a night in a hotel was 12 thousand rubles.

China took the second place with a share of 10.2% and an increase in interest by 5.8 percentage points. The average cost of living there is 13.5 thousand rubles per day. Vietnam took the third position, which was chosen by 7.3% of travelers. At the same time, the country has become the most affordable destination among the leaders of the rating: a night in a hotel costs an average of 7.2 thousand rubles.

Indonesia also entered the top 5 with a share of 5.2% and an average cost of 11.1 thousand rubles per day, as well as Japan, which accounted for 4.7% of bookings. The average price of accommodation in this country turned out to be the highest among the leaders — 17.6 thousand rubles per night.

Other popular winter destinations include the Philippines, India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. At the same time, China showed the greatest increase in interest over the year: its share among winter trips increased from 4.4% to 10.2%.

In addition to China and Thailand, demand for Japan, India and Australia has increased significantly. The share of Japan increased by 1.8 percentage points, India — by 1.7 percentage points, Australia — by 1.5 percentage points.

At the same time, a number of traditionally popular winter destinations have lost some of their demand. The share of Morocco decreased the most — by 3 percentage points, Mauritius — by 2.8 percentage points, the United Arab Emirates — by 2.6 percentage points, Sri Lanka — by 2 percentage points and Malaysia — by 1.5 percentage points.

Analysts have also recorded a change in Russians' preferences when choosing housing. Travelers have become more likely to choose either premium accommodation options or more flexible formats such as apartments and guesthouses.

The share of four—star hotels decreased to 32.5%, three-star hotels - to 25.2%. At the same time, the popularity of five—star properties increased to 22.6%, and non-star options, including apartments and guesthouses, increased to 15%.

Analysts of the "Tutu" travel service named popular regions for spontaneous travel of Russians on August 27. Russians choose Kaluga, Moscow regions and Karachay-Cherkessia. According to analysts, only 18.6% of tickets to Chukotka are bought within a week before the trip, while 31.5% are bought 61 days or more in advance. Short trips within the European part of Russia are more often accepted closer to the departure date, while remote destinations require an earlier decision.
