WP reported on the largest restructuring in 10 years at the NSA of the USA
The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) is planning a major reorganization to focus its core resources on developing artificial intelligence (AI), countering threats from China, and strengthening cybersecurity. This was reported on September 13 by The Washingtom Post (WP), citing sources.
"The NSA is preparing for the most extensive internal restructuring in at least 10 years," the publication says.
It is clarified that the new structure was presented by the director of the NSA, Army General Joshua M. Rudd. Rudd's plan calls for the creation of five new units at the NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland. They will specialize in AI, China, cybersecurity, combat support and military operations, as well as global intelligence.
According to the newspaper, the NSA leadership learned about the upcoming reorganization last week. It is expected that the process of restructuring the agency's structure can be completed by mid-January 2027.
The Wall Street Journal reported on September 10 that the Pentagon is negotiating to provide the Fluidstack startup with a loan of about $ 5 billion for the development of American AI infrastructure. According to the publication, the funds are planned to be allocated through the Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital, which finances companies operating in areas related to US national security.
The Economist magazine reported that the Mythos artificial intelligence model of the company Anthropic has caused concern in the United States after reports that it was able to hack secret NSA systems. It was noted that possible restrictions on the use of advanced AI models abroad are being discussed in the United States.
