Scammers began to use the hype around the release of the new iPhone to steal money and personal data of Russians. This was announced on September 13 by Alexander Vurasko, Director of Development of the Center for monitoring external digital threats of "Solar" Group.

"You need to start making an order yourself: open a familiar store application or enter the website address manually, rather than clicking on the link from the advertisement. <...> It is necessary to check the start date of the pre-order and sales with the official messages of the manufacturer. <..."You can't tell anyone the password for an Apple account, two-factor authentication codes, recovery key or device password," he said in an interview with "RIA Novosti".

According to the expert, the release of a new smartphone model plays into the hands of fraudsters, since during this period users are actively interested in device prices, pre-order conditions and delivery dates.

The expert also advised to check the websites carefully before placing an order. He noted that the lock icon and the use of HTTPS only indicate a secure connection, but do not confirm the seller's good faith, since similar technologies can be used on fraudulent sites.

In addition, Vurasco urged not to pay for purchases and not to arrange delivery through third-party services. According to him, transfers to private bank cards, settlements in cryptocurrency and making a full prepayment without the possibility of canceling or challenging the payment are especially risky.

The expert advises that if the details of the bank card have already been indicated on a dubious website, you should immediately contact the bank at the official number and block the card. In case of leakage of Apple account data, you need to change the password, check the connected trusted devices and make sure that two-factor authentication is activated.
