The works of Izvestia photojournalists will be presented at an exhibition in Orel

On September 15, the Orel Museum of Local Lore will open a photo exhibition "From the Scene", which will feature the works of leading Russian photojournalists who captured significant moments in the social, political and cultural life of the country. The exhibition features the work of five professional reporters with many years of experience shooting under tight deadlines and a rapidly changing news agenda. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by photographs of Izvestia's photojournalists Pavel Volkov and Eduard Kornienko. The exhibition presents their individual photographs. Each picture is a separate story or a significant event. The geography and chronology of the works presented are extensive: from an icebreaker ploughing the expanses of the North Pole to the launch of a rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Reportage photography is always about real events without interference from the photographer. The news snapshot captures the main events of the day, and its key criteria are efficiency, documentary accuracy, and objectivity. At the same time, genre reportage photography is able to convey something more: the atmosphere of the moment, human emotions, the inner world of the characters in natural conditions.

Pavel Volkov, winner of the Golden Pen of Russia Award, is not only a practicing photojournalist, but also a recognized industry expert: he teaches at the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University and is an associate professor at the Moscow Institute of Culture (MGIK), and is also a member of the Russian Geographical Society. His work is distinguished by a combination of reporter's precision with a deep understanding of the visual language of documentary photography.

Eduard Kornienko is a winner and prize—winner of Russian and international photo contests, who collaborated with both domestic and foreign media. His shots have repeatedly become a symbol of the events he covers, and his professional handwriting is distinguished by the ability to find an unusual angle even in the most stressful shooting conditions.

The exhibition also features works by Alexei Belkin (NEWS.ru ), Anton Velikzhanin (Kommersant Publishing House) and Evgeny Biyatov (Rossiya Segodnya News Agency).

The exhibition demonstrates the specifics of a photojournalist's work in the field, where instant reaction, analytical thinking and the ability to succinctly convey the essence of an event in one frame are required. Visitors will see both footage of key historical moments and informal stories that have remained outside the scope of official publications.
