"Avito" expert identified five main trends in the market of special equipment

Russian businesses continue to update their fleet of special equipment, but increasingly they are choosing the secondary market and leasing instead of buying new cars, said Andrey Gorn, commercial director of "Avito Special Equipment".

According to him, interest in commercial vehicles with mileage increased by 1%, while interest in road construction equipment with running time remained virtually unchanged.

In addition, over the past six months, leasing of special equipment increased by 27.2%, agricultural machinery — by 38.3%, and used trucks — by 19%. "Business closes the need for technology, but does not want to keep it on balance. This is how a company that plans to operate but is not ready to freeze capital for five years ahead behaves," the expert commented.

He also drew attention to the trend of business transition from planned purchases to project purchases. "The equipment is taken under a signed contract. The planning horizon has shrunk to a specific project, and this is the most honest indicator of caution available on the market," Gorn said.

Separately, the expert highlighted the growing business interest in warehouse equipment. Views of offers of cars with running time increased by 9.4% year—on-year, leasing increased by 59.5% in January-April. "Fewer new warehouses are being launched, and more equipment is being bought for them. The business has shifted its focus to improving the efficiency of what has already been built," the commercial director explained.

He mentioned another trend that is being observed in the agricultural machinery market. There, the offer grew by 37.2% year—on-year, and views by 13.1%. Sales in the first half of the year added 11.2%, rising to 85.5 billion.

"The supply is growing almost three times faster than the interest: warehouse leftovers are being sold. For the buyer, this is the best price window in the last couple of years," concluded Horn.
