- Dmitriev declared panic in the European Union due to the dialogue between Russia and the United States
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on September 10 that hardliners in the EU and the UK were concerned about the development of the Russian-American dialogue on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
"Why would the Financial Times publish lies and fake news to disrupt the dialogue between the United States and Russia and try to undermine the positions of [US President Donald Trump's special representatives] Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner? Is it because British and European warmongers profiting from conflicts are panicking about the dialogue and cooperation between the United States and Russia?" the message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In this way, Dmitriev reacted to a message from Deputy White House press Secretary Anna Kelly about the FT publication, which referred to the alleged participation of CIA chief John Ratcliffe in resolving the Ukrainian conflict instead of Witkoff and Kushner. Kelly stated that this information is completely untrue.
On September 9, the FT newspaper, citing sources in the US administration, reported that Washington was allegedly considering a new plan for negotiations on Ukraine. It was claimed that Ratcliffe, not Witkoff, would represent American interests. The publication pointed out that the struggle for the role of the main US representative in the negotiations had allegedly already begun between the head of the CIA and the current special envoy.
Kelly said on September 9 that the newspaper's information about Ratcliffe's alleged plans to appoint the United States chief negotiator for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine was not true. According to her, the US presidential administration did not refuse to comment on this topic, and the publication appeared in FT before the expiration of the agreed deadline for a response.
