Nicolas Cage's house in Malibu has a sinkhole

A huge sinkhole formed near the house of American actor Nicolas Cage on the ocean in Malibu, due to which the city authorities announced an evacuation. This was reported on September 9 by the ABC7 TV channel.

Officials have warned that the situation could worsen due to high tides and rains associated with the former Hurricane Marie.

According to the TV channel, the sinkhole continued to expand and restrict access for residents and emergency services. A state of emergency was declared and residents of five neighboring houses were evacuated, and a helicopter was on duty at the scene.

The fire department reported that erosion under the house damaged the water and gas pipeline, which was why the gas supply was turned off on Tuesday.

Nicolas Cage bought the mansion in 2024 for $10.5 million, and the building was undergoing renovation work. The actor was absent from the house at the time of the incident.

In May, the American actor officially dropped the surname Coppola and changed it to a stage name. It is noted that the choice of the surname was influenced by the comics about Luke Cage, as well as the American composer John Cage.

In July, it became known that the hard drive on which the new Nicolas Cage movie was recorded was stolen from Netflix. The film's producer, Simon Afram, demanded compensation in the amount of $105 million for the loss of an unencrypted copy of the film. Afram said that negligence on the part of Netflix jeopardized the exclusivity of the film and destroyed its value.
