Medvedev expressed hope for strengthening cooperation between Russia and the DPRK

Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, expressed hope for further development of cooperation between Russia and the DPRK. This was reported on September 9 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In a congratulatory telegram to North Korean President Kim Jong-un on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the republic's formation, Medvedev noted that relations between the two countries should continue to strengthen, including through cooperation between United Russia and the Workers' Party of Korea.

"I look forward to further strengthening multipolar cooperation for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of Russia and the DPRK, including through United Russia and the Workers' Party of Korea," the telegram says.

Medvedev also noted the achievements of the DPRK in the field of state-building, strengthening sovereignty and ensuring national security. According to him, Moscow and Pyongyang have close positions on key issues on the international agenda.

The Orel region and South Hwanghae can develop agriculture together, while in Kursk they want to rename streets in honor of Korean fighters.

KCNA reported on September 9 that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to Kim Jong-un on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the republic. In his telegram, the Russian leader noted that over the past years the country has achieved success in the social and economic spheres, as well as strengthened its position on the world stage. Putin also stressed that relations between Moscow and Pyongyang are traditionally based on the principles of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual support.
